Heaven Has Heard Our Pleading
In 2021, a recurring vision of prayer at the geographic center of the USA became a reality. With the help of friends, P. Douglas Small, President of Project Pray launched “Prayer at the Heart.” Three thousand people gathered under a tent, in the middle of a cow pasture, next to the small park marking the nation’s center. For six hours attendees prayed and pleaded for Revival and Awakening in America.
The first team came from South Korea. Meanwhile, other teams circled the entire nation with prayer, arriving at the event. Teams came from all four corners, and north-south-east-and west, stopping along the way for prayer rallies, pouring out oil and wine, salt and water, driving stakes, reading proclamations. This 20,000-mile prayer exercise may have been the most aggressive in the history of Project Pray.
Then intercessory teams from the World School of Prayer in Korea began to arrive in the U.S.A. Twenty-one teams came in 2022. Forty-one in 2023. The first week of May 2024, the first seven of 21 additional teams arrived in the USA for the sole purpose of prayer. They were not here to vacation or visit a theme park. They were hidden — praying, passionately praying, using what they call “the Korean style” of prayer. IMG_1096
Incredibly, almost a thousand Korean prayer ambassadors have now paid their own way to travel to more than half of the USA states. They met with mayors, governors, state, and local leaders sharing their concern for the spiritual condition of America.
This kind of international and national prayer exercise is mind-bending. Skeptics may ask, “Has it done any good? Have there been any significant answers to prayer?” You decide.
Here’s what’s happening. Revival is breaking out in America — on beaches and college campuses, religious and secular. Churches are baptizing hundreds, and in a few cases, thousands. Young people are turning to Christ. From Asbury to Lee University, to Loma Linda and the University of Alabama, Florida — and more. At places where the Korean Prayer Teams prayed — and more, heaven appears to have heard our pleadings.
“Revival is the work of God in the Church among His people.”
Spurgeon encouraged believers to “offer potent, prevalent prayer.” Hundreds, if not thousands of Americans have joined the Korean Intercessors in potent, prevalent prayer for Revival and Awakening in America.
“What we need in strenuous petition… active pleading with God” –Keller
A direct line cannot always be drawn from prayer to revival. But it must be noted that some of the teams prayed near the sights where revival fires are now burning. And while a direct connection can’t be proved, we must believe that prayer has its answer in true revival. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is true. Humble prayer draws the presence and power of God, especially when no one cares who gets the credit if God gets the glory.
“Awakening is the work of God in a culture that has forgotten Him, His Word or His Love.”
There is a wonderful story of Charles Spurgeon who was not recognized by a small group of young pastors who visited the Metropolitan Tabernacle. The pastor played the part of the janitor, graciously giving the small group a tour of the massive hall that regularly drew 5,000 worshippers, pointing out its pulpit, from which Pastor Spurgeon’s voice echoed clearly through the hall.
Then, the incognito Spurgeon asked if they would like to see the boiler room of the church. Their response was less than enthusiastic, but Spurgeon insisted, leading them downstairs. Opening doors, he revealed almost a thousand people in prayer. “This is,” he announced, “the engine room of the church.” It, not the pulpit, was the source of the church’s success and power.
“Brethren, we shall never see much change for the better in our churches in general,” Spurgeon noted, “till the prayer meeting occupies a higher place in the esteem of Christians.”
I have joined Project Pray and its work in the boiler room of the nation and its ongoing endeavors to mobilize prayer with America’s Prayer Meeting Movement, an outreach of the ministry. We believe in prayer that is transformational in impact, on us, our families, our cities and on nations.
“When God wants to so a mighty work, he sets his people to praying.”
–Matthew Henry
We believe revival is in the air, and that means it is not time to stop praying, but time to deepen our dependence on God, our humility, our being direct by the Spirit. P. Douglas Small whose heart beats for Revival in America reminds us, “Before prayer is critical, ‘If my people will pray, then …’ but ‘after prayer’ is equally critical. We are not start in the Spirit, and finish in the flesh. Jesus not only prayed before a significant event or challenge, but He also prayed afterward. He persisted in prayer.”
Please join me and a host of praying saints as we continue our prayer effort for the nation.
